The 40th Annual Great Clermont Triathlon, Florida's traditional season opener featuring an international (Olympic) distance triathlon with a 1.5K Swim, 40K Bike, and a 10K Run. Other events include a run-bike-run Duathlon along with relay team competition. The Great Clermont Triathlon is held in conjunction with the Florida Challenge - Intimidator Triathlon which takes place the following day on Sunday, March 12. The Florida Challange features the Intimidator, a 70.3, half-iron distance triathlon, a Sprint Triathlon, long course Aquabike, Relaays, and a 1.2 mile Open Water Swim.

International Triathlon: 1.5K Swim, 40K Bike, 10K Run

International Duathlon: 5K Run, 40K Bike, 10K Run

Sprint Triathlon: .25 mile Swim, 8 mile Bike, 3.1 mile Run

Duathlon:  5K Run, 42K Bike, 10K Run 

 

Courses:

SWIM - The 1500 meter swim course is a triangular shaped course in Lake Minneola. Swimmers will swim counter-clockwise, keeping all buoys on their left. Swimmers will complete one lap of the course. The projected water temperature is expected to be 68-78.  Wetsuit use is in accordance with USAT rules.  

BIKE - The 40K bike course starts by traveling clockwise around Lake Minneola, before heading out towards Montverde/Ferndale. This portion of the course has a few small hills, but does not travel up Sugarloaf Mountain.    

RUN - The 10K run course is an out and back loop course on the South Lake Trail.

Double Triathlon Challenge:

Race a Great Clermont multisport event on Saturday and complete a Florida Challenge multisport event on Sunday and you'll earn some cool swag!  Finishing select two-day combos will earn you a cool bonus medal!  Watch for more details soon.

Amenities:

Finisher medal, colorful event shirt, accurately measured and well monitored course. Post race food tent. Registering by March 1 ensures proper t-shirt size. Awards: Intimidator Triathlon - Top three overall, top masters, and the top three in each division, male and female.  Sprint Triathlon - Top three overall, top masters, and the top three in each division, male and female. Relay Teams - Top three teams in each of the following categories: All Male, All Female, and Mixed Aqua Bike - Top three finishers overall, male and female. Open Water Swim - Top five Male and Female.

Be part of all the excitement at one of Sommer Sport's events. Whether you have just a couple of hours to spare, or the entire day, your help will make a difference.
